Which Program Is Best For Me? FAQ
Q: “Should I join a personal training program, or a group training program?”
Coach Jon: This is an excellent question! The program that suits your goals and needs is the one that is most likely to get your the best result. Below are the top 4 questions that you should ask yourself when deciding.
1. What is my goal?
- For example, the primary goal of the Genesis Lean Body Boot Camp is to help clients burn fat and the secondary goal is to build some lean muscle.
- The Primary Goal of the Mass Building Bootcamp is to put on lean muscle mass as fast as you can without the aid of illegal anabolic steroids.
- The programs and guidance given during the bootcamps will be linked to their goals.
- If the bootcamp goals match your goals, then our group program is an excellent choice for you.
However, if your goal is different, for example, to jump higher, or to improve your maximum strength and speed, then the group program will not be suitable for you. You should join personal training where we can tailor every aspect of your training and nutrition to help you get maximum progress to your goal.

2. What is my schedule like?
Because the Bootcamps are group classes, you will need to come at specific timings so that we can run the bootcamp efficiently for the benefits of all the participants. The timetable for fitness bootcamps at Genesis is listed below. We try to make as many classes as our space and schedule allows. And if it matches your schedule, then the bootcamps are an excellent choice.
However, if your schedule is unpredictable, or irregular, or you have other activities that don’t allow you to fit the bootcamp timings, then personal training would be a better choice for you.
Group Class Schedule 2013
Lean Body Bootcamp
- Primary Goal: Fat Burning
- Secondary Goal: Maintain Lean Muscle

- Mon to Friday: 930am, 1230pm, 7pm
- Mon, Wed, Thur: 8pm
- Sat: 830am
Mass Building Bootcamp
- Primary Goal: Build Muscle Mass as fast as possible without illegal, anabolic steroids
Schedule:
- Mon, Wed, Thur: 6 pm
- Tue, Fri: 8 pm
- Sat: 10 am
3. Do I have any serious medical conditions?
The bootcamps are challenging workouts! And because it is a group class, we have limited ability to modify exercises to make them safe for those with serious medical conditions.
What do I mean?
Well, if you have a slight flexibility problem, or are un-fit from lack of exercise, we can accommodate you in a bootcamp with no problems. We can use minor exercise modifications, and changes in the amount of training we ask you to do.
However, if you recently had a serious medical problem like a slipped disk, or a knee surgery for example, you would be better off joining the personal training program at least at the beginning. We will customize your program to rehab your injury and bring you back to full strength and health. After you are back to health, you can join a group training program.

4. What is my budget?
It does require more space, time, staff and effort to operate the personal training program, and that makes it more expensive (although still awesome value compared to other personal training options out there!). If your budget does not allow for the personal training fees, the bootcamps/group programs will still get you an excellent result.
I hope I have been able to answer your questions. Now that you have a better idea of which program would be best for you, it should be an easier choice to decide between a personal training program, or a group fitness program.
Q: What about Online Coaching?
Coach Jon: Online coaching is for those who have a well equipped gym or training center near their home, or that they are already a member of. In addition, you should have no medical conditions, and have some experience in training. If you are totally new to exercise or gym training, then the online coaching is not a good option for you. It is better to take up 3 months of Personal Training, and then transition to online coaching after that.
Q: How do your health and Injury consultations work?
Coach Jon: A health or injury consultation is a one off meeting. I will ask you many questions about your current health situation, and find out what problems or injuries you may be facing. I will then provide you a step by step process to recover. And if it is an injury, I will treat it.
In the case of injuries, we expect a 50-80% reduction in symptoms within a few days, and usually within the first day. If you do not get any progress, the consultation is free of charge.
